When three become four there’s a distinct change in the family dynamic. Having photographed this gorgeous family when Harriet arrived a few years prior, it was just too exciting to see how much she had grown and how much she adored her baby brother Edward.

The thing I loved most about photographing these guys was seeing how different the two kids personalities were. Harriet was a little camera shy initially and Eddie was a super chilled  perfect little baby! Even though he was barely a week into his precious little life, he was so alert, taking it all in his stride then once he had enough just fell asleep.  Harriet was a typical toddler, cheeky and full of beans – the bubbles may have been used a form of bribery…I mean distraction…hehe You just wouldn’t have it any other way!

It’s really quite special being asked to capture a family in their own home, and luckily it’s what I love!

It’s been a little while since I posted and engagement portrait session on my blog, so I thought what better couple’s portrait to post than Sarah & Mirko who also happened to be part of the wedding I photographed last weekend! (You will have to wait for Yvette & Andy’s wedding blog post but you can have a sneaky peek at their engagement portraits here)

I’m lucky enough to be capturing the weddings of a couple of best friends who are bridesmaids for each other this year. It’s been a blast getting to know each couple and see them in the role of getting married and supporting their best friends on such a special day.

Engagement portraits are something I highly recommend doing with all my wedding couples, they give me a chance to get to know each couple a little bit more and a chance for them as a couple to just have fun basking in the excitement of being engaged without the other elements that come with a wedding day.

Sarah & Mirko are getting married in glorious Port Douglas later this year so having their engagement portraits in Brisbane was quite special for them. Deciding on the Gallery of Modern Art for their location portraits is a distinct contrast to the rain forests & cane fields that will be the backdrop  accompanying their North Queensland wedding.
